Who’s Your Literary Twin?

Here’s a fun little site: I Write Like. Paste in something you’ve written and find out which famous author your writing style resembles. The site promises its statistical analysis tool compares your word choice and writing style with those of well-known writers.

When I pasted my last post, I was told I write like Cory Doctorow. When I tried it again with one of my short stories, I got Oscar Wilde. (Hmmm…not what I would have expected!)

Who do you write like?

A portion of my little story said I “sound” like William Gibson? Hmmm… Now I have to go Google this guy! I did try a blog post and I ended up with Cory Doctorow too.

Maybe we write more analytically when blogging. Or something. Fun, Sandy! Thanks for sharing!

Do you like William Gibson? Do you know William Gibson? 🙂

Misha, are you feeling the urge to find a place to hide away from the world for the next 50 years?! 😉 You have a great weekend, too!

Evelyn, I don’t know who William Gibson is. I didn’t know who Cory Doctorow was either, until I Googled him!

I found and tried this before – I got Ursula Le Guin for one, which I loved, Arthur C Clarke for another, and then Dan Brown. Not sure how accurate it is, but great fun!

I’d be interested in knowing how many famous authors they’ve analyzed to compare with our writing…it is a lot of fun!

I rolled the dice two times and got Stephen King and David Foster Wallace. Am now quitting while ahead. Seems they have a lot more male authors in their memory banks than female, huh. Very fun and flattering, though. Wonder what I’d do if it cranked out Danielle Steele or Tori Spelling?

Good question about female authors — people have also responded to this on my Facebook page, and no one’s gotten a female author, except for Pippa’s Ursula Le Guin. Please tell me Tori Spelling didn’t actually write a book — yikes!
