Let this image engage your muse. Write a paragraph, a short story, a poem, a memory, a journal entry…or whatever you feel inspired to create.

That night I was practicing my scrying, as I often to. (I’m the worst seer in class, and I need all the practice I can get.) Anyway, I commenced the scry. I began by concentrating on my subject. I wanted to see through the eyes of a writer. I settled into my concentration, patterned my breathing, and cleared my mind. I concentrated. The picture came through the fog after a few minutes, but I could tell at once something I was off kilter. I saw the writer but not his writing. My view was third person, not first person, not watching his hand write his new-formed story. After a few moments I discovered my problem. I was indeed seeing through the eyes of a writer, a “bad” writer who was watching a “good” writer work, and he was looking at this writer through the bottom of a beer glass. He’s probably as effective a writer as I am a scry.

Just my luck. Tomorrow, another try. For now though, I’m somehow inclined to go have a drink.
