Believe in Yourself

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. —Mark Twain

Amen to that! However, I’ve been fortunate, so far, and have had lots of support.

What if I’m the one belittling my ambitions?

    Beautiful pic and wise words!

I love this picture-it looks so real that I can smell the seaweed! Did Mark Twain ever get it wrong? So wise!

Rochelle, lucky you! I’m glad you have so much support.

Kablooey, I would refer you back to my 10 Resolutions for a Creative New Year, number 7: “Don’t listen to people who discourage you (including your inner critic).” Can you try to turn your inner critic into an ally? Convince her to sit aside when you’re creating and then return to help edit your brilliant creations? I know, I know, it’s easier said than done. So let me say this: I know — as does anyone else who reads your blog — that you’re a fantastic writer. I would be very, very sorry if you didn’t keep supplying the world with your wonderful, witty observations! And I hope very much that you won’t hold any of your additional creative brilliance back from the world, either. We need your unique creativity. I mean it.

Mike, thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. I love finding meaningful pictures and words that amplify each other, and I’m particularly happy with this combination. I’m glad you like it too!

Heather, I agree with you about Mark Twain’s wise words! And I could gaze into that photo for a long, long time and feel a wonderful mixture of peace, hope and joy.

That was my first reaction, too, that I’m the one who doubts me the most. 🙂 Believe in yourself – great words!

Absolutely! The world would be a much better place if we all believed in ourselves — and each other.
